Toothpick Dolls - by Angela Michelle. This site is dedicated to toothpick dolls and has a 6 part tutorial for making one with all the tips and tricks, see the right-hand column. Enjoy the other dolls, a mini slideshow from pirates to elves and even sitting dolls.
make a cubby bin for toys, painted to match the room. Look for restaurant butter tubs or cut down ice cube trays.
skipping rope - take a heavy piece of thread and glue a bugle bead at both ends.
kite - use tissue paper, thread and plastic clothes tag barb, paint or use a sticker to decorate.
Cut the bristles from a toothbrush, paint each bristle a different color and put them in a round tall container with a label saying pick-up sticks.
use a length of straw with the tip cut at a slight angle as a "mini" funnel for filling marble bags.
use 3/8" lengths of cocktail straws for the paint jars on a chalkboard/easel. Glue them to the easel tray, fill them about 1/3 full with tacky glue, add some acrylic paint, run a bit around the rim, and dribble some down the side. They look like the kids have been at the paints.
some very flexible springs in ink pens make excellent "Slinky" toys. Bend them in an arch and glue each end to a small piece of cardboard or onto the floor of the kid's room.
