Tips/Hints
- When scratch building a dollhouse, make your own custom milled window sashes and create a channel that will fit the glass. You should always paint the cut edges with black oil based paint or oil-based marker. This will prevent anyone from knowing how thick the glass actually is as there is no silver reflection from the cut edge.

- How to you give windows the appearance of months without being washed? Especially on the outside. Use white glue smeared around on the window especially in the corners. With your finger, rub away a bit in the center so it looks like people just clear off the center but never clean the windows. Toss in some 'dirt' colored shavings from pastels and slop that around a little. Or a tiny bit of burnt umber paint mixed with the glue. Practice on some plastic packaging because it dries differently than it looks until you get the appearance you desire.
- For mullioned windows, take a piece of acrylic and scribe a diamond pattern on it. Use black or grey buttonhole thread soaked with glue and lay it in the scribed grooves. Or use golf/sports tape cut into strips (difficult to keep straight!) Coat the entire business with clear glass paint or Modpodge to create a glass effect. Use a toothpick to apply Gallery Glass Lead Paint (see supplies for sale.)
