Chili or chili pepper is a hot spicy fruit, which adds fire to any dish. Originating in the Americas, the plant use and cultivation was spread around the world by traders in the 16th century.

Although India is the largest producer, consumer and exporter of chilies, they are an ingredient in a variety of menus besides curry. Think of chili con carne, part of the Tex-Mex diet, as well as chili dogs. Do you use cayenne pepper in your cooking to add "punch"? Those are a form of chili peppers.
