While being interviewed, Nanna mentioned an idea for a kids´ page in the wiki. So this is it. :) To create content to this page we need kids or parents to help their kids to start filling the page :).

Easter Egg House - created by Peggy Fowler to teach at a kids class. " There were 6 girls aged 10 and 11 who took the class. They were really impressive. Other than the vague directions supplied, they needed no other help in completing their houses. They were encouraged to use their own color schemes and ideas in decorating. They all were able to complete their houses in the time allowed for class. You can see their work here:"

Books

  • Books about miniature children's projects (also books with chapters about them)

Want to get kids interested in reading ? What about books that include miniatures.

For Grade 3's, try Indian in the Cupboard, and make miniature items which relate to the story. At the end of the first chapter show the children "Look what is here on the shelf and let them handle the minis. In  Rumer Godden's books "Miss Happiness and Miss Flower" and the follow up Little Plum,  2 Japanese dolls are homesick and so the owner builds them a miniature house to live in.  Absolutely charming.

    Research/ Inspiration

    The Christmas Dollhouse
Written and illustrated by Richard Rudnicki
    NIMBUS PUBLISHING
    ISBN 978-1-55109- 868-5
For ages 4-8. A classic Christmas story based on a true story that happened in depression-era Oxford, Nova Scotia. It is about the hard times a family is experiencing and an unexpected kindness the family receives from the townspeople at Christmas.
With their Ma very sick and their Pa away working in the woods, six year old Dot and her older brother, Wallis, have to work extra hard to keep the household going. A beautiful dollhouse is being raffled off at the drugstore, and Dot is enraptured by it, but she knows her family doesn't have the money to enter the draw. The townspeople notice this and on Christmas morning there is a knock at the door with a big surprise.
Beautifully illustrated with realistic paintings depicting life in a small, rural town in 1930.

Hollyhock Dolls - Pinterest album by Julie Harnisch. Sent the kids to get two flowers each. Use three tooth picks to make a hollyhock doll. Poke one toothpick through the bulb part of one flower for arms. Then  point the petal down for a skirt and poke two toothpicks up through the center of the bulb for legs, with the points protruding through. Put the bulb of the other flower on the tooth picks, with the petal pointing up. Then pick away one side of the petal and turn the rest of it inside out to hang down for hair. Could probably use silk flowers as well.....

Please help me in defining the rules for this page. How do we define a kid? Anyone who feels himself/herself a kid or an age of 12, 15 or 18? Comments needed, especially from the kids themselves :).
