Playmobil have a fantastic range of furniture often overlooked by dollshouse enthusiasts. Playmobil's meticulous attention to design detail is rare in toys designed for children. Anyone interested in collecting should search for items from the 'Victorian' ('Nostalgie' in some countries), 'City Living', 'Fairytale Palace' ranges. However, additional pieces of furniture appear in many ranges, such as Western, Hopsital, Castle (or Fort) and even Viking and Eygptian.. There must be at least 30 playmobil chair designs out there! There is also a plethora of accessories, such as fire sets, crockery, painting, clocks...just about everything in fact! German ebay is an especially good place to search, as I believe the brand orginates in Germany.

There is also a Victorian Mansion and several very attractive half timbered buildings. With a bit of imagination the grey stone Knights castle can be made into a variety of luxury residences! However, I have chosen to put my furniture in a specially designed dollshouse. Unfortunately most dolls house kits are in 1:12 or 1:24 scale, whereas I guess playmobil is more like 1:20 (but don't quote me on that!). I wanted my house to have very grand high ceilings, but for the doorways to be in playmobil scale (the doorframes were taken from the playmobil mansion). You are welcome to see images of this house on flickr...click photo below).
