Tips/Hints

add realism to your rooms with the natural fragrance of Eucalyptus. Punch mini leaves from "real" preserved Eucalyptus leaves with an inexpensive 1/8" circle punch. Use cloth-covered wire in brown or forest green (or paint it) to match the leaves. Glue the mini leaves alternately down the wire to look like a stem of Eucalyptus. Use a photo or a real stem as "model" to correctly place the leaves. Use heavy tacky glue and tweezers to place the leaves. Make a number of branches and place in a vase or bundle into a wall swag or wreath. If you have an enclosed roombox, the room will be scented with the smell of eucalyptus....it is great!
- Cattails: Put a "blob" of glue on the end of a piece of wire. Now, dip this into powdered instant coffee.
- Cattails: Use preserved rye grass- usually found with dried flowers & materials. Gently tear the rye grass into thin pieces in a variety of widths. Break off into 4" lengths. Find the sturdiest of the rye grass pieces for the cattails. Take a small amount of Fimo and flatten out to be about a 1" square.
Wrap the Fimo around the chosen rye grass pieces about 1/8" from the top. Roll the wrapped piece to make into a cylinder form. Should it get too long, pinch off the excess and carefully tap ends to create the right look. Bake the cattails as you normally would bake Fimo (in a full size oven only) but WATCH CAREFULLY as you have grass that IS FLAMMABLE but shouldn't be a problem for 10 minutes at 200 degrees. (or just use air-dry clay!) Whether you put them in a basket or use in a landscape, place some of the loose pieces of grass around the cattails so that they drape in a natural manner.
