Things in a store:
- mops, and brooms in barrels with a sign "Brooms for sale x cents"
- feather dusters
- buckets
- garden tools
- hoses
- ribbons and laces
- long johns, dungarees, overalls
- coffee grinder
- mousetrap
- rat poison and fertilizer
- seed packages from printies.
- don't forget to post a few broadsheets.
- tinned and canned food
- Post office was also often in the general store. Make little letters and parcels and stamps.
- Cakes of soap, or a big block that could be cut up. Use Model Magic and paint with wood glue.
Tips/Hints
- For mops cut a bunch of cotton twine in a medium length. Gather into a bundle and tie a little bit down from one end of bundle. Shove a stained skewer with a bit of glue on the end up through the middle of the bundle the "wrong " way. Flip upside down and smooth the twine and then tie again with red thread. Wrap the thread around and put a dot of glue on the end.
- For a scrubber, cut the head off a child's toothbrush, sand both ends so they are even, drill a hole in the middle and insert a skewer.
