We all have visited Miniatures and Dollhouses sites, looking for information, but been frustrated by outdated links. This interactive wiki is trying to resolve that situation.
Got a mini project you want to show off? Want to sell it? Want to come up with ideas about a certain project? This is the place.

What is the purpose of Mini treasures wiki?
To become the world's biggest current, updated site dedicated to miniatures and dollhouses, edited by thousands and known and loved by all miniaturists :). The slogan of the wiki is "Connecting dollhouse people" and with help of the wiki you will find answers to all dollhouse related questions you were not even able to ask. This is an interactive site. We want you to correct/delete outdated information, enter new sites and just have a good time!

Is Mini treasures wiki making profit?
At the moment (March 2018) is not either taking money nor bringing it to Johanna, the owner of the site. She did got some bucks from Amaazon but not enough to cover the yearly costs. If you see Amazon ads on the site you can remove them as they do not work anymore.

Do I need account for reading the wiki?
No you don't. But if you want to contribute or comment, then you do. See the editing instructions below.
I found a cool link from the wiki and now I´d like to translate the page into English. How?
1. Go to translate.google.com
2. Give the url of the page you want to translate and the languages (e.g. from Finnish to English)
3. Hit translate
The translation is made by a machine, but users can improve the translations. Also if you are using the translated versions of this wiki you might find odd translations - go ahead and correct them. :)

Wiki provides both emails and RSS feeds. See the email settings:
To follow the feeds you need a reader, see more from this video. I recommend Bloglines or Google Reader.
I keep getting emails from the wiki. How to get rid of them?
In the end of those emails there is text "Manage your notification settings or just unsubscribe. " Click Unsubscribe and after that you won't get any emails.
Are there any other options for following the wiki?
Yes, there is blog, Facebook and Twitter.
In the Mini treasures blog there are big news about the wiki and wiki member interviews.
In Facebook fan page there are some wiki promos from time to time and also some gallups.
In Twitter there is most content:
- notifications of new blog entries of Mini treasures blog
- notifications of Facebook updates
- some notifications of wiki updates (not all)
Questions about editing the wiki:
How do I start?
Get an account.
- Go to the box "To Join this Workspace" on the top right-hand side of each page, and follow the instructions.
- Once you have established an account, you need to login to comment or edit the wiki, just like when you use Yahoo, gmail and Flickr, using your email and account number. However you don't have to sign in if you wish to search pages, etc.
Check the editing instructions or just learn by doing. You can't delete anything by accident, everything is stored in page history. If you have problems, contact Johanna (johantti at yahoo dot com).

Can I contribute to the wiki? Are there any rules?
Yes, please! The more editors the more useful information we can offer to the dollhouse community. Code of conduct in the wiki: play nicely. Also commercial links are allowed but choose the page carefully. E.g. if you make mermaid and fairy dolls put them on the mermaids page and fairies, not on shops. In shops page choose the correct title (e.g. big or small business) and add your link in alphabetical order. If you post links to wrong place, e.g. in the title, it will be removed. This wiki is about miniatures so all sites referring to normal size products will be removed.
Be mindful of copy-right. Ask permission before quoting or using pictures from another site. Links are OK.
What is the official language to be used in the wiki?
As Mini treasures wiki was established by Johanna who is not a native English speaker the terms may be mixed but as she learned the British English during her school years that is the official language here too. But there may sometimes be terms from American English too added by her and added by others. If you are a Brit feel free to convert the terms to proper British English but include the other version in brackets. E.g. "football (soccer)".
How about commenting - what are the rules for that?
Stay in page focus. If you are in a Youtube page, don't talk about a Facebook page. If you are on books page, don't promote your shop or new doll there . If you have found cool links, add them to the wiki page, not to comments. Comments are mainly for discussing about the page content, for sharing wiki improvement ideas and asking for help. If there are comments in wrong pages they will be removed. Use "comment" to initiate a topic, and "Reply" to respond to that specific comment/topic, so conversational threads develop. (see how it makes a difference - look in the comments below)
Can I make a personal page?
This is a tough question but at the moment I don't see any reason for this (but feel free to contact me and prove I am wrong). Instead you can introduce yourself at wiki members and add links to your websites in other wiki pages.
How to add a new page?
That is very simple, see the video below. When you create pages use template.The names of wiki pages do not use "Capitals" nor " " empty spaces e.g. "blogs_dutch" instead of one of these: "Blogs dutch", "Dutch-Blogs" or "blogs_Dutch" or "shops_germany" instead of "German shops" or "Dollhouse shops in Germany"
Do not create empty pages i.e. pages without any other content than titles.

I found a broken link in wiki. What to do?
Please remove it, and/or leave a comment on the page for follow-up. Someone will add the corrected link later if it gets updated.
Can I add link to my on-line shop?
Yes you can. You can also add an embedded picture of your product under the Miniatures for sale title if you use thumbnail sizes (100*75 pixels). But not more than 2 pictures per page from a seller.
If you are using Mini treasures wiki for advertising your products you should in favor promote Mini treasures wiki to your customers - just add links and buttons on your sites.
Note that wiki moderators can remove any picture in the wiki whenever they want without asking permissions from other people.
Can I add affiliate links?
No, only wiki owner can use affiliate links.
I found inappropriate content from the wiki. What to do?
Please remove it as soon as possible!
Questions about files, pictures and videos:
Can I add pictures of my miniatures to wiki?
Yes, if you own the copyrights and if it is not obscene or offensive. Keep the picture sizes small (preferably about 30 kb but in some cases max 50kb is allowed, like for Mini treasures wiki´s own promo pictures) so conserve space in wiki. As a maximum wide use 240 pixels. All the pictures that are bigger than that will be deleted. See e.g. shrinkpictures.com/ to resize your picture. The picture should be named according to the page where it is included. E.g. the first picture in unikko page is of called "unikko1.jpg" and the second picture in scottish page is "scottish2.jpg".
For the Advent calendar:
Go to wiki and log in
Go to the page you want to edit
Place your cursor where you wish the picture to appear.
Click "edit"
Go to "images and files" on the right hand side under "page tools"
Click on "upload files"
This takes you to your computer - select the folder where you have stored the pictures you wish to use, then the picture. Click Open.
The title of your picture should appear on the right hand side under "images and files"
Click on the title and the picture should appear on the page you are editing.
Click on save.
Click on edit again, place cursor where you wish to add text to your page, above or below the picture.
When you are finished with the photos and copy, go to the bottom of the page and click "save" or all your efforts will be lost
Go to the "view" of the page to see that everything looks the way you want it to
If you wish to make changes, go back to the "edit" mode, make your changes and "save" again
I want to embed pictures from Picasa or my Blogger blog but how is it done?
google no longer allows photo embedding :(
To save wiki space I could show embedded pictures from Flickr but how is it done?
See the slide show for step-by-step instructions. Other photo services provide the code for embedded pictures as well, feel free to use them as well.
What is the Flickr group meant for?
So there is a group in Flickr for Mini treasures. If you have an account in Flickr you can add your pictures to this group pool so that they can be used for decorating this wiki as well. The slide show of that group is shown on the Front page.
Can I add my YouTube video here?
Yes, embedded videos from any service are fine - as long as they are about miniatures :). The best width for the videos is 350pix - you can manually choose that while you are defining the YouTube code for embedding.
Can I add exe files?
No as they are big and some of them can contain viruses. All exe files will be removed.
Can I add files of other formats like pdf/doc/xls?
No, they are against wiki policy as they cannot be modified easily by everybody. So let's not add them (if not a very good reason). The files are removed by the moderators.

Individual pages are not permitted in the Wiki, pages are devoted to particular topics instead. Jorie's Miniatures page has been deleted. Jorie was contacted and shown how to show her work.

We have had a couple of new members trying to add pages and pictures, not understanding the set up. I have contacted them and asked that they come to this page and read it, and then comment. How exciting people are joining up! I am looking forward to a lot of comments!

Welcome to David, who is trying to contribute some pics to the Wiki. Since the ones he has already downloaded are too big, I am going to delete them.

What are tags? How do I see a selection to choose from when I edit? Can you have too many? Is it better just to link to the pages you feel are coonnected, eg see also ...

tags are freely written, you cannot see a selection while editing. I havent noticed a limit of their amount. and you can have both, links and tags. the nice thing about tags is that if you click a tag you can see all pages with the same tag. one page can be in one folder (e.g. plants), but it can have several tags (plants, fruits, tropical, yellow, food, hawaiian). do you get it now honey? :)

So I could tag the seat page sofa, chesterfield, sheraton, couch, and any other term I would associate with seats? and these tags show up when you do a search?

Linda when I've understood this all I'll make more comments, but do have one query, there are some lovely pictures linked to Webshots which now no longer exists, do we remove, leave or just tell you.

Yes Pauline, If you come across any Webshot links they should be deleted. This goes for any other broken links as well. Please leave a comment on the page when you do so.
